Drew Blackwell stood near the Tibetan temple and stared at the building.
She remembered the monks within the place of worship taking her in.
Memories of the blizzard entered her mind against her wishes.
She recalled being with her family until the storm separated everyone.
That was when the monks took her in and gave her the Tibetan Fire Sword.
She glanced at the weapon on her back.
The young woman chose to bring her sword in case of danger.
She wished to reunite with her second family. One year passed since they were together.
A small smile formed on her white face. She could not wait to see the anchorites again.
She entered the temple and wandered.
Drew's happy expression became one of horror when she saw several bloody bodies on the
floor! She trembled as tears formed in her dark eyes and streamed down her face.
Was she destined to lose her loved ones? She gasped when a man stepped out of the shadows
and approached her. He wore a sleeveless top, jetpack, tight pants, black boots, wrist
blasters, and a cracked, red-eyed helmet. Drew gasped when she recognized the tattoo of
the skull and snake on his arm.
''Leonidas Van Rook? MY EX-BOYFRIEND?!'' she exclaimed. She winced when she heard his
strong Eastern European accent. ''Long time, no see, Drew!'' Van Rook spoke.
''Why did you kill my second family?'' she wished to know. ''I wished to punish you for
dumping me during our college days. You revealed your past to me when we dated!''
Leonidas said.
''We studied cryptids together, but I wished to study and protect them while you stole
and killed them for money! That is why I broke up with you!'' the young woman stated.
''Let's see how you like dealing with a broken heart which will never be fixed!''
the mercenary spoke. He enjoyed observing his ex-girlfriend's angry expression and imitated
her when she removed her Fire Sword from the sheath on her back.
The blades clashed several times until Drew kicked Van Rook's sword out of his hand
and knocked him down with a single kick. She stepped on his chest and raised her
sword above her head in order to end his life.
The white-haired woman paused as her foot touched the temple floor again.
She lowered her sword and closed her eyes. ''What would the monks think about killing
someone for revenge? Why should I sink to your level, Van Rook?'' she whispered.
She looked up and scowled at the mercenary who stood. ''This isn't over, Drew!''
he snarled before running. She approached the dead monks and whispered as more tears
streamed down her face. ''Rest in peace, my second family.''
